Team to study about spread of Lumpy Skin and African Swine Fever

Kathmandu, 9 June 2025: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has mobilized its subordinate bodies to carryout study about the status of Lumpy Skin and African Swine Fever infections reported in domesticated animals in different parts of the country and to find out effective measures to control them immediately.  

A meeting of the concerned officials held under chairmanship of Agriculture Minister Ram Nath Adhikari today decided to form a team under the coordination of senior veterinarian under the Department of Livestock Services. The committee comprises representative from the Central Veterinary Laboratory, concerned officials under provincial ministry and local levels.   

The Department has assigned Dr Tapendra Prasad Bohora, senior veterinarian at the Animal Health Division as the focal person for daily and periodic reporting of the situation of the diseases. 

Similarly, the meeting also directed the Department of Livestock Services to estimate the resources required to bring the disease under control with participation of all the three tier governments.
